Assassin's Creed Unity is Ubisoft's action-adventure game set in Paris during the French Revolution. Players control Arno Dorian, an Assassin caught up in the chaos of the revolution while seeking revenge against the Templar knight responsible for his family's murder. The game's most striking feature is its incredibly detailed recreation of period Paris (including Notre-Dame Cathedral) as a living city where thousands of NPCs go about their own routines. A new parkour system (adding descent control) and special 'Heist' missions playable cooperatively with up to 4 players added a new social dimension to the series. Though criticized at launch for serious technical issues (frame rate drops, bugs), it was significantly improved through subsequent patches and is remembered for its visual and atmospheric achievement.
