Metro Exodus is 4A Games' first-person shooter-survival game based on Dmitry Glukhovsky's novel series, following a train journey out of Moscow's metro tunnels and across the Russian continent. Artyom and a small group of survivors explore different regions of post-nuclear Russia (the Volga, the Caspian Sea, taiga forests) aboard a locomotive called the Aurora. Unlike previous entries, the series shifted from closed corridors to open, semi-sandbox levels — a day/night cycle and dynamic weather affect stealth and resource management strategies. Gas mask maintenance, handmade weapon modification, and survival mechanics in irradiated zones preserve the series' signature tense atmosphere.
