XCOM 2 is Firaxis Games' turn-based tactical strategy game set in a future where aliens have taken over Earth. Set after the first XCOM's lost war, the story requires players to use guerrilla tactics as a covert resistance movement against the alien-occupying ADVENT — they're now on the offensive rather than playing defense. Procedurally generated maps, escalating difficulty over time (mission time limits), and the high-stakes design where soldiers can permanently die (permadeath) make the game intensely tense and strategic.
